The Life of Chhori Maiya
Chhori Maiya Shrestha (1943–2001) was a woman of profound strength and quiet dignity. Born in Patan, Kathmandu, she was the eldest of nine children, and household duties kept her from formal schooling. At 22, she married Rup Kumar Shrestha and settled in Bhimad, where she raised six children through poverty and hardship.
She was known as a kind and brave woman who encouraged other women to learn and guide their children toward a better life. Despite her own struggles, she ensured her children attended school every day, often going to bed hungry so they could continue their education.

Mission
In memory of Chhori Maiya Shrestha, the Academy provides school supplies and fees for underprivileged children in Nepal so that an education and the opportunities it brings will enhance their knowledge, confidence and self-esteem, and ultimately improve the quality of their lives.
